LEAGUE points are firmly the focus for East Lothian’s football teams after various cup distractions.
Four of the county’s teams have home advantage as they search for three points.
Only Tranent Juniors and Preston Athletic find themselves on their travels.
In the Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL), Tranent make the journey south to face Dalbeattie Star.
In the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), Haddington Athletic welcome Oakley United while Musselburgh Athletic entertain Dundonald Bluebell.
Dunbar United host Dunipace in a battle at the top of the First Division, while Preston Athletic cross the Forth to face Lochore Welfare.
Finally, St Andrews United are heading in the opposite direction as they travel to Ormiston Primrose.
Tranent’s match kicks off at 3pm and the remaining encounters get under way at 2.30pm.
Match of the Day
Haddington Athletic v Oakley United
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Haddington Athletic last five games: LLDLD
CHAMPION versus champion at Millfield.
Haddington Athletic saw off the challenge of Leith Athletic to be crowned First Division Conference A champions last term while Oakley were winners of Conference B ahead of Preston Athletic.
Perhaps understandably, neither team has been able to replicate that form in the top tier of the EoSFL.
Oakley are only off the bottom of the table on goal difference while Haddington have only won two of their opening 10 games, although they have drawn four.
Three points for the Hi Hi would put some much-needed distance between themselves and the bottom three.
Dalbeattie Star v Tranent Juniors
Scottish Lowland Football League
Tranent Juniors last five games: LWLWL
INCONSISTENT would be the best way to sum up Tranent Juniors in recent weeks.
Colin Nish’s team are yet to really hit a winning streak but will be looking to start one as they travel to Dalbeattie Star.
The Dumfries and Galloway side prop up the Lowland League table and have won just one of their opening 14 games.
Tranent meanwhile have only tasted defeat in three of their league contests and sit comfortably in the upper reaches of the table.
A victory ahead of a midweek clash with Edinburgh University would be most welcome.
Musselburgh Athletic v Dundonald Bluebell
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Musselburgh Athletic last five games: WWWWD
UNBEATEN in five games and four wins on the spin, Musselburgh Athletic are full of confidence.
Liam Burns has had an immediate impact at Olivebank as his side look to race up the table.
Victory over Dundonald Bluebell would continue that trend with the two sides swapping places if Musselburgh can pick up a win.
The Fife side sit fifth in the standings at the moment and are boosted by 18 goals scored and none conceded in their last three outings.
It is a real test for Burns and his team but one they will be looking to overcome.
Dunbar United v Dunipace
East of Scotland Football League First Division
Dunbar United last five games: LWWWD
SCOTTISH Cup disappointment is firmly in the rearview mirror as Dunbar United look to return to the top flight of the EoSFL.
The loss to the University of Stirling was a blow but the focus is now firmly on getting three points.
The Seasiders top the First Division table having taken 20 points from a possible 27.
The visitors to New Countess Park sit fourth – and outside the promotion places – but are just two points adrift.
No league winners’ medals will be handed out this afternoon (Saturday) but victory for the hosts would be a real statement of intent.
Lochore Welfare v Preston Athletic
East of Scotland Football League First Division
Preston Athletic last five games: LLWWW
ONE point further adrift of Dunipace are Preston Athletic, who have their own ambitions of reaching the top flight.
Paul Currie’s team were not in action last weekend but will be looking to get back to winning ways after consecutive defeats.
They travel to a Lochore Welfare side sitting 12th in the 16-team table with nine points from as many games.
The Panners are three points off the top of the table and will be looking to keep the pressure on those teams above them.
Ormiston Primrose v St Andrews United
East of Scotland Football League Second Division
Ormiston Primrose last five games: LLLLL
EARLY season optimism has somewhat evaporated at New Recreation Park.
Richie Weir’s men enjoyed a 4-0 win over Hawick Royal Albert on the second day of the season.
However, since then, they have only picked up two points – a pair of 2-2 draws against Edinburgh United and Peebles Rovers.
Both of those teams sit above Ormiston in the table, showing the county side do have the ability to cause teams problems.
They will need to be at their best though to take anything from a St Andrews United side who sit sixth in the standings.
The Fife outfit have 20 points from a possible 30 and could move up the table with a win.
