DUNBAR United's Scottish Cup run came to an end on Saturday in what was a disappointing afternoon for all county clubs involved in cup action.

It was heartbreak for the Seasiders in the second round of the national competition as they lost out 3-1 to University of Stirling.

The county side had the lead just four minutes in when Darren Handling fired home.

But the students fought back through Cameron McKinley and Ben Maciver Redwood to lead 2-1 at the break before adding a third midway through the second half.

Dunbar were given a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty with 20 minutes remaining and University of Stirling were shown a red card.

Darren Smith had his spot kick saved by Ben Fry before being sent off himself with five minutes to go for two quick yellow cards out of frustration.

Dunbar next face Dunipace on Saturday in the East of Scotland Football League First Division as they look to put the heartbreak of the cup exit behind them.

Tranent Juniors also suffered a heart-breaking defeat in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup third round at the hands of Penicuik Athletic.

A first half penalty from Taylor Hendry was enough to give the Midlothian team a 1-0 victory.

Tranent Juniors next face Dalbeattie Star away from home in the Scottish Lowland Football League on Saturday.

It was a game to forget for Ormiston Primrose in the same competition as they were thumped 7-0 by Dundonald Bluebell.

The Primrose found themselves 3-0 down at the break before things got worse in the second half and they were comfortably eliminated.

Ormiston Primrose next face St Andrews United at home on Saturday in the East of Scotland Football League Second Division as they look to improve from the defeat.

There were no fixtures at the weekend for Musselburgh Athletic, Haddington Athletic or Preston Athletic but all three will play this weekend.

Musselburgh Athletic face Dundonald Bluebell in the East of Scotland Football League Premier Division while Haddington face a home game against Oakley United.

Finally, Preston Athletic face an away trip to Lochore Welfare in the East of Scotland Football League First Division.
