Match of the Day
Musselburgh Athletic v Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Musselburgh Athletic last five games: DLWWW
A THIRD permanent manager in little over a year takes charge of Musselburgh Athletic.
Liam Burns was confirmed as the new boss at the Honest Toun side following the departure of Joe Hamill.
Jackie Myles and Matti King took the team for the goalless draw at Haddington over the weekend with Burns taking charge from Monday.
His first game in charge is at home to Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale, who sit two points adrift having played one game more.
The Capital club will be boosted by a 3-0 win over Tynecastle at the weekend but Musselburgh will be out to impress the new boss.
Tranent Juniors v Caledonian Braves
Scottish Lowland Football League
Tranent Juniors last five games: WLDDW
TWO late strikes gave Colin Nish his first victory as Tranent Juniors boss on Saturday.
Goals from Craig Barr and Ben Miller in stoppage time gave the Belters all three points against Cowdenbeath in a game they had led 2-0.
The Fifers levelled things and seemed set for a point before the East Lothian side took the win.
Nish’s team sit level on points with their visitors, who have played one game more.
A victory for Tranent could lift them as high as third in the Scottish Lowland Football League table after an impressive start to the campaign.
Linlithgow Rose v Haddington Athletic
East of Scotland Football League Premier Division
Haddington Athletic last five games: DWDLL
A GOALLESS draw with East Lothian rivals Musselburgh Athletic kept Haddington comfortable in mid-table.
Now, they face, arguably, one of the biggest tests in the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League with a trip to Linlithgow.
The West Lothian side left their title charge too late last season but look an improved outfit this time round.
They sit second in the table and have only tasted defeat once in the league in the opening seven games.
That single defeat came to Haddington’s county rivals Musselburgh last month after Linlithgow had won 10-0 against Vale of Leithen.
Haddington would move up the table with a win while Linlithgow are looking to edge closer to league leaders Penicuik.
Camelon Juniors v Dunbar United
East of Scotland Football League First Division
Dunbar United last five games: LWWDW
AN IMPRESSIVE start to life in the First Division for the Seasiders was brought to a sudden halt on Saturday by Preston Athletic.
The first defeat of the campaign knocked Dunbar United out of the promotion spots and down to fourth in the standings.
Preston and Kinnoull, along with Luncarty, sit above Kevin Haynes and his team, although the first two sides have played more games.
Now, Dunbar must regroup for a midweek trip to a Camelon Juniors side who sit at the other end of the standings.
Camelon drew 3-3 with Dunipace at the weekend and have only lost one out of their last three fixtures.
Syngenta v Ormiston Primrose
East of Scotland Football League Second Division
Ormiston Primrose last five games: LDLLL
AN EARLY goal had given Ormiston Primrose an early lead at Tweedmouth Rangers on Saturday.
However, the opposition would fight back to take all three points with a 5-2 triumph.
Scoring goals has not been as big an issue as in previous years for the county side but they are still struggling to turn that into points.
In contrast, Syngenta are aiming for promotion and sit just a point outside the promotion places after five wins from their opening seven games.
That run of form includes 26 goals in those games – the joint second highest in the division.
