ONLY Preston Athletic are in action out of East Lothian’s six senior football teams this evening (Wednesday).

The season is well and truly in the final straight with two county teams hoping to join Haddington Athletic in being crowned league champions.

Preston, along with Tranent Juniors, are one of those teams and they play their remaining game in hand near Perth.

Preston Athletic’s last five games: LWDDW

DEFEAT to Heriot-Watt University on Saturday means the league title is now out of the hands of Preston Athletic.

The Pennypit side play their final game in hand over league leaders Oakley United and second-placed Glenrothes this evening (Wednesday) when they travel to Luncarty.

A win would close the gap on the table toppers to just a single point, with two games yet to play.

Their hosts sit sixth in the table and know a win for them will secure their top seven spot and a place in next season’s First Division.

Jack Lynch’s men won the reverse fixture 1-0 in East Lothian at the beginning of February and will need to at least match that to keep their title dreams alive.

The game kicks off at 7.30pm.
