DUNBAR United Colts have taken home the Tom Wilson U17 Cup after an end-to-end match against fellow county side Musselburgh Windsor.

Dunbar triumphed 3-2 over the Musselburgh side at Olivebank on Monday, with some excellent football played by both sides.

Dunbar opened the scoring early on when Connor Carmichael fired home from close range after a dominant start to the match.

Windsor battled back and won a penalty on the 20-minute mark, missing the spot kick, but five minutes later Sam Dickson brought the Musselburgh side level with a tidy finish.

The sides went into the break level and the second half would continue in a similar vein, with both sides struggling to get going.

But the last 20 minutes would see a flurry of activity, Michael Seeley putting Dunbar back in front with a neat finish before he was at it again as he glided in at the back post to tap the ball home and make it 3-1.

Musselburgh then threw everything at the Seasiders, pulling a goal back through Campbell to make it 3-2, but Dunbar defended expertly to maintain their lead and claim cup glory.

Stuart Allan, committee chair and coach, said: “The boys were unbelievable, all season you work for these moments.

“The sacrifice they make, that’s what makes these nights special.

“We took the lead and started the game really well but Musselburgh pushed hard.

“At 3-1, we thought that could be it, but Musselburgh made it a squeaky finish, but the result was well deserved. The boys were truly tremendous.”
