LEAGUE business takes centre stage as five of East Lothian’s football teams look for three points.

Dunbar United and Musselburgh Athletic are both away from home in the Premier Division as they travel to Broxburn and Sauchie.

Title-chasers Tranent Juniors welcome Crossgates to Foresters Park.

Haddington Athletic can move top of the table with victory over Dalkeith Thistle in First Division Conference A.

Similarly, Preston Athletic will be looking for three points at Newburgh Juniors as they look to close in on Glenrothes and Oakley United.

Ormiston are not in action this weekend.

Each of the games kicks off at 2.30pm.

Tranent Juniors v Crossgates Primrose

Tranent last five games: WWWDW

UNBEATEN in five games, Tranent Juniors would move top of the Premier Division with three points this afternoon.

The Belters sit third in the table but will look to take advantage of league leaders Penicuik Athletic and second placed Linlithgow Rose not being in action.

A draw would be enough to see Calum Elliot’s men move above Penicuik on goal difference.

Last weekend saw Tranent hit double figures against Hawick Royal Albert United in the League Cup but it is unlikely to be as straight-forward today (Saturday).

The visitors, Crossgates Primrose, sit seventh in the standings and will be looking to edge closer to fifth placed Musselburgh.

Tranent were 4-1 winners in Fife at the end of July.

Broxburn Athletic v Dunbar United

Dunbar United last five games: DWWLL

THREE games without defeat, Dunbar United will be looking to pick up three much-needed points in West Lothian.

Arguably, 12 of the 18 teams are not fully clear of the relegation battle at the bottom of the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League.

Dunbar picked up three points against Linlithgow Rose last month and will be out to do the same against Broxburn Athletic.

The West Lothian team sit sixth in the table and 10 points clear of the drop zone.

Kevin Haynes, manager of the Seasiders, has targeted seven points over the remaining seven games in a bid to avoid the drop.

His side were 2-1 winners in the reverse fixture and would welcome history repeating itself.

Sauchie Juniors v Musselburgh Athletic

Musselburgh Athletic last five games: LWDWL

HADDINGTON Athletic ended Musselburgh Athletic’s League Cup ambitions, with the Olivebank men now firmly focused on the league.

Joe Hamill’s men sit fifth in the Premier Division and will be keen to finish the campaign strongly as they prepare for next season.

They make the trip to a resurgent Sauchie side, who are looking to ease any relegation fears.

Their hosts are the in-form team of 2022 having raced up the table.

They have contested 15 fixtures since the turn of the year and have lost only one game, winning 11 of their last 12.

First Division Conference A

Dalkeith Thistle v Haddington Athletic

Haddington Athletic last five games: WWWDW

THE title race in First Division A could go down to the wire.

Haddington will be looking to put themselves in pole position today (Saturday) as they make the short trip to Dalkeith.

Table-toppers Leith Athletic are not in action and even a point would be enough to put the Millfield men top of the table.

Dalkeith sit a lowly 12th in the 15-team division but Haddington will be keen to ensure there is no complacency.

Haddington were 2-0 winners at the end of July and will be looking to repeat that result and move top of the table.

First Division Conference B

Newburgh Juniors v Preston Athletic

Preston Athletic last five games: WLDWW

VICTORY over Stirling University last weekend got Preston Athletic back on the winning trail.

A fixture pile up is one of the primary concerns for Jack Lynch and his team, who saw their Tuesday night league match with Kinnoull postponed due to the weather.

Today, they are on their travels as they head to Newburgh Juniors.

Their Fife opposition sit second bottom of the First Division Conference B table and have conceded 72 goals in 21 league encounters.

A win for Preston would move them to within six points of league leaders Oakley United, with four games in hand.

Preston and Newburgh are yet to meet this campaign.
