A TRIO of East Lothian players have been named in Edinburgh Rugby’s touring squad for South Africa.

The DAM Health Stadium side will face Cell C Sharks on Saturday before going on to play the Johannesburg-based Emirates Lions on April 2.

Ben Muncaster, Cammy Hutchison and Chris Dean have all been selected in the squad that headed out to Durban.

Mike Blair, Edinburgh head coach, announced his squad on Monday.

He said: “This two-week tour is going to be a brilliant challenge for the club and we’re really excited to face two excellent teams in the Sharks and Lions.

“Being based in South Africa and getting to grips with challenging conditions and fast tracks, while facing off against different players – many of whom are Springboks – is what makes the URC such a different and fascinating league.

“We’re looking forward to getting out to Durban early this week, with preparations well under way for Saturday’s clash against an in-form Sharks side.”

North Berwick-born Muncaster has represented Edinburgh nine times in his career since returning north of the Border from Leicester Tigers.

The 20-year-old, who has represented Scotland at both under-18 and under-19 levels, was part of the English Premiership club’s academy set-up since the age of 14.

Hutchison also has North Berwick connections, having attended the town’s secondary school.

The former Currie and Heriot’s man impressed earlier in the United Rugby Championship campaign and was rewarded with a full-time professional contract with Edinburgh.

He made his 11th Edinburgh appearance on Friday in the 30-17 defeat to Glasgow Warriors.

Finally, the experienced Dean, who attended Law Primary School in North Berwick, has made 115 appearances for the Capital club and captained them at Scotstoun on Friday evening.
