MEGAN Gaffney and Liz Musgrove have been named in the Scotland squad for the upcoming Six Nations.

The East Lothian duo were part of the squad that helped Scotland reach a first Rugby World Cup in more than a decade last month with victory over Colombia.

Now, they have been included in Bryan Easson’s 35-player squad for the annual tournament, which gets under way on Saturday at home to reigning champions England.

From there, Scotland will travel to Wales on April 2 before hosting France in Glasgow on April 10.

Scotland then head to the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi to face Italy on April 24.

The competition then comes to a close as Scotland head to the Kingspan Stadium to face Ireland on April 30.

Gaffney, of North Berwick, has been capped 39 times for her country.

She scored a try in victory over Wales in last year’s version of the competition.

Also hoping to be involved is Musgrove, also of North Berwick, who has represented her country 10 times.

Head coach Easson said: “We’ve had an exciting start to the year after claiming the last spot in this year’s World Cup in New Zealand, but it’s important that our focus now turns fully to the Six Nations.

“The hard work and effort that the squad have displayed in recent training sessions has been terrific and our priority will be about building on the positive progress that we’ve seen over the past year.

“The opening round of the tournament will see us host defending champions, England, which will be a tough test but I know the players are relishing the chance to challenge themselves in front of a home support.”
