FRIDAY night football comes to Foresters Park as Tranent Juniors welcome Lochore Welfare.

The hosts will start as favourites given their position in the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) Premier Division.

However, they slipped to defeat to Dundonald Bluebell earlier in the week and will be looking to bounce back.

Their opposition sit fourth in First Division Conference B – five points adrift of Preston Athletic.

Tranent are opening their League Cup campaign today (Friday) while their opposition lost 2-0 to Syngenta last weekend.

FORM has been inconsistent for Jack Lynch’s team in recent weeks.

However, they ended their two-game losing run with a 2-1 triumph over Edinburgh South last weekend.

That keeps Jack Lynch’s men very much in the hunt for the First Division Conference B title and narrowed the gap at the top of the table to six points.

Preston still have four games in hand over league leaders Oakley United but will swap attention to the League Cup tomorrow (Saturday).

The Pennypit side host Bathgate Thistle as the two teams play each other for the first time in nearly 30 years.

While Preston have enjoyed success this campaign, Bathgate languish at the bottom of First Division Conference X.

They last won a week before Christmas when they defeated Pumpherston 3-2.

Lochgelly Albert are the opposition as Joe Hamill’s men look to get back to winning ways after a 3-2 defeat to Broxburn Athletic in their last league encounter.

Haddington were the visitors to Gardiners Park in the opening round of fixtures and came away with a 1-0 win.

The Fife team sit 13th in First Division Conference B and have not won a game since the end of August.

SCOTT Bonar’s men have bounced back impressively since defeat to Leith Athletic.

Three wins in a row has helped Haddington move on from that defeat and they will be looking to make it six points out of six in the League Cup tomorrow.

Shaun Hill scored the only goal of the game at Lochgelly Albert and they will be hopeful of building on that when they travel to Heriot-Watt University.

The Capital club sit eighth in First Division Conference B.

They won 2-1 away to Pumpherston last weekend and at least one of Haddington and Heriot-Watt will see their 100 per cent record go.

Dunbar United last five games: LLLDW

LAST weekend’s postponed trip to New Recreation Park left Dunbar still waiting on collecting their first win of 2022.

The Seasiders have struggled since the turn of the year and will be hoping to build some confidence during the League Cup section.

Dunbar’s last win came on December 30 against Whitehill Welfare.

Kennoway Star Hearts are the visitors to New Countess Park and come into the game with two wins from their last three games.

The Fife side sit fifth in First Division Conference A and have endured an inconsistent campaign – with 11 wins and 10 defeats from their 22 league encounters.

The East Lothian side had been due to begin the League Cup campaign against Dunbar United.

However, that contest last weekend was called off due to drainage issues at New Recreation Park.

Now, they look to spring a surprise when they make the trip to Ferguson Park.

The Midlothian team are 11 points from safety in the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League and have conceded 87 goals in 29 games.

They will be boosted though by a 5-0 triumph over Stoneyburn last weekend.
