MEGAN Gaffney and Liz Musgrove have been named in the Scotland squad for a vital qualifier.

The East Lothian duo are part of the women’s squad hoping to reach the Rugby World Cup for the first time in more than a decade.

Thirty women have been named in the squad ahead of the Final Qualification Tournament, which is played later this month in Dubai.

Scotland will face the winners of Kazakhstan and Colombia to decide the final country going to the Rugby World Cup, which is played in New Zealand in October.

Bryan Easson, Scotland Women head coach, was counting down to February 25, with the game being screened live on BBC ALBA from 3pm.

He said: “We’ve have been encouraged by the performances the squad have produced over the past few months so we haven’t made too many changes to our preparations.

“The ability to select a 30-player squad has been a real positive for us, as we can keep working with the group that featured in the qualifiers in Parma, while also introducing some new players to the squad.”

North Berwick’s Gaffney has been capped 38 times for Scotland while former North Berwick High School pupil Musgrove has represented her country 10 times.

Scotland last played at the global competition in 2010.
