IT IS first versus third in First Division Conference A today (Saturday) at Millfield.

Title chasing Haddington Athletic and Dunipace will do battle, with both sides still in with a strong shout of lifting the league title.

The Hi Hi sit four points clear of second placed Leith Athletic and nine clear of Dunipace.

However, that advantage could be worn away if Dunipace win in East Lothian and then triumph in their game in hand.

Dunipace are one of just two teams in the league to have taken points off of Scott Bonar’s men this term.

The two clubs began the campaign with a goalless stalemate and unbeaten Haddington’s only other blemish was a 2-2 draw with St Andrews United last weekend.

Haddington are not the only team with title aspirations and facing challengers this weekend, though.

Preston Athletic sit second in First Division Conference B and face off against fourth placed Kinnoull.

Glenrothes are the current pacesetters and sit three points clear of the East Lothian side.

However, Preston have the benefit of two games in hand over their Fife rivals.

Jack Lynch’s men are on a seven-game winning run in the league having not dropped any points since a surprise 2-1 defeat against Edinburgh South in August.

Preston and Kinnoull faced each other on the opening day of the season with the Panners coming away with a 3-1 win.

In the top flight, Tranent Juniors, Musselburgh Athletic and Dunbar United are all at home.

Tranent trail league leaders Penicuik Athletic by four points and the Midlothian side also have a game in hand.

The Belters know they can afford few slip-ups if they are to close that gap and welcome Crossgates Primrose to Foresters Park.

The Fife side sit seventh in the Premier Division but trail Tranent by 14 points.

Calum Elliot’s men were 4-1 winners in Fife at the end of July and will be keen to see a repeat of that scoreline.

Musselburgh Athletic will be looking to continue their impressive run of form when they host Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts.

The Olivebank men are on an eight-game unbeaten run in the league which stretches back to the end of September.

They sit on the heels of the title-chasing trio of Penicuik, Tranent and Linlithgow Rose and could have an important say in where the title ends up.

Joe Hamill’s team won 4-0 in the reverse fixture at the beginning of October and will be looking to further strengthen their grip on a top four finish.

Finally in the top flight, Dunbar United are at home to Linlithgow Rose.

The Seasiders have struggled in recent weeks but pushed league leaders Penicuik all the way last weekend.

Victory over their visitors would mark a first home three points since September 25 when they were 3-1 winners over Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts.

Kevin Haynes’ team sit in a congested section of the table and could jump above Sauchie, Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts and Dundonald Bluebell with a win.

Finally, Ormiston will be looking to turn their recent goalscoring form into points.

Seven goals in three games represents a healthy return for the New Recreation Park side, who head to St Andrews United.

The two sides are locked together on eight points and have an identical goal difference as well.

Victory for the visitors would see them not only move above their hosts but potentially to within a point of Tweedmouth.

All the games kick off at 2.30pm.
