HISTORY could be made this afternoon (Saturday) as Tranent Juniors attempt to reach the fourth round of the Scottish Cup for the first time.

The Belters head to League Two side Stirling Albion looking to spring an upset having already knocked out Penicuik Athletic and Broomhill from the national cup competition.

Their third round opponents knocked out former SPFL stalwarts Berwick Rangers in the previous round.

The winners of the 3pm kick-off could face a lucrative contest with one of the country’s Premiership teams in the fourth round.

Meanwhile, Preston Athletic are also in cup action as they face Kinnoull in the third round of the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup.

Jack Lynch’s men sit second in First Division Conference B and four points ahead of their opponents, who have played a game more.

The two sides met on the opening day of the season when the Panners won 3-1 in Perthshire.

East Lothian’s four remaining football teams are in league action this afternoon.

In the Premiership, both Dunbar United and Musselburgh Athletic have home advantage.

The Seasiders face a tough task against a Penicuik side looking to extend the gap over Tranent at the top of the table.

The two clubs met earlier this month when the Midlothian outfit came out on top 2-1.

West Lothian’s Blackburn United make the trip to Olivebank.

Joe Hamill’s men came from two goals down against Camelon Juniors last weekend and will be looking to continue their impressive form.

Victory over Blackburn, who sit 13th in the 18-team division, could see Musselburgh leapfrog Linlithgow Rose, who face Newtongrange Star, into third spot.

In Division One Conference A, Haddington Athletic will be looking to keep up their unbeaten start to league season.

Scott Bonar’s team have dropped just two points from 14 games and face a St Andrews United team only kept off the bottom of the table by goals scored.

Haddington were 3-0 winners in Fife back in August.

Finally, Ormiston will be looking to climb off the bottom of the table when they make the trip to Arniston Rangers.

The Midlothian side were 1-0 winners at New Recreation Park earlier this month and Ormiston could jump above St Andrews United and Craigroyston with the right result.

Ormiston’s game kicks off at 2pm, with each of the other East of Scotland Football League games getting under way at 2.30pm.
