GRANT Forrest missed out on a top-20 finish at the Portugal Masters by one stroke on Sunday.

The Haddington-based golfer was the top Scot at Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, in Vilamoura.

He finished tied for 22nd on eight-under-par, 11 shots behind the winner Thomas Pieters.

Forrest carded rounds of 68, 67, 71 and 70 over the four days and collected 17 birdies along the way, as well as an eagle on the 12th hole on Friday.

Twenty-eight-year-old Forrest, who grew up in North Berwick, was tied alongside John Catlin, Edoardo Molinari and Benjamin Hebert.

Richie Ramsay, who is attached to The Renaissance Club, finished tied for 43rd on two-under-par.

Finally, David Drysdale missed the cut after rounds of 72 and 73 saw him finish on three-over-par.

The former Dunbar Grammar School pupil scored five birdies over the two rounds.

The AVIV Dubai Championship tees off today (Thursday).

Forrest, Ramsay and Drysdale are all listed among the entrants for the tournament in Dubai.
