TALENTED young footballers are hitting the back of the net thanks to a donation from a housebuilder.
Musselburgh Youngstars have teamed up with Miller Homes for the season.
The housebuilder donated £200 to the club, which was established by a group of parents in 2003, and Iain MacNeill, development sales manager, was joined by the footballers at Miller Homes’ Carberry Grange development in Whitecraig.
Initially, the club had just a dozen members but has grown to have more than 200 players ranging in age from five to 17.
Simon Renwick, chairman at Musselburgh Youngstars, said: “We’re delighted by the kind donation from Miller Homes and really appreciate them helping out our community club.
“The donation will be put towards funding new football kits for the kids and a fun day out for them to keep morale high after a challenging year. We can’t wait to get on the pitch and show off our new look!”
Lynsey Brown, regional sales director for Miller Homes, was “thrilled” to be able to help.
She said: “The football club is an important part of the local Musselburgh community and we’re delighted to see the work they do for so many kids.
“Given that the club has gone from strength to strength, we’re excited to see it flourish as we build our Carberry Grange development in the area.”
