FOUR East Lothian teams will attempt to make history this afternoon (Saturday) in the Scottish Cup.
Dunbar United, Haddington Athletic, Preston Athletic and Tranent Juniors are 90 minutes away from a spot in the third round of Scotland’s top cup competition.
Dunbar have home advantage against fellow East of Scotland Football League (EOSFL) Premier Division side Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale.
The two sides have already met this season with the Seasiders winning 3-1 in the capital.
Kevin Haynes’ men have already knocked out Broxburn Athletic and Camelon Juniors to reach the second round.
Meanwhile, their opposition have a 100 per cent record against fellow EOSFL sides in the competition with three wins from three games.
Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale knocked out Edinburgh University after a replay to reach the second round.
Haddington will make the trip north to face former Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) stalwarts Brechin City.
Scott Bonar’s men are playing in the competition for the second time and knocked out Deveronvale at Millfield in a replay last month.
Now, they face Highland League opposition again.
Andy Kirk’s Glebe Park men, fresh from relegation from the SPFL, were 5-0 winners over Vale of Leithen in the previous round and sit third in the Highland League table.
Seasoned Scottish Cup campaigners Preston have home advantage but face a challenge against former Junior heavyweights Auchinleck Talbot.
Jack Lynch’s Pennypit team come into the contest on a fine run of form and they have already ended the Scottish Cup journey of Threave Rovers and Lossiemouth.
The Ayrshire men have enjoyed plenty of success in the Scottish Junior Cup and sit top of the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division.
They were 3-1 winners over Irvine Meadow in the previous round.
Finally, Tranent make the trip to Broomhill hoping to go at least one stage further than last year when they were eliminated by East Fife in the second round.
Calum Elliot’s high-flying EOSFL Premier Division outfit were 3-1 winners over title rivals Penicuik Athletic in the previous round while Broomhill were 6-0 winners over Glasgow University.
Musselburgh Athletic and Ormiston are not in Scottish Cup action but are playing knockout football.
The Olivebank team face Kennoway Star Hearts in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup while Ormiston host St Andrews United in the King Cup.
