MUSSELBURGH Windsor have high hopes for the new season after scooping eight trophies during a coronavirus-hit last campaign.

The 2020/21 season proved to be unorthodox due to the global pandemic but it failed to derail the players from achieving one of the club’s most successful seasons ever. In a flurry of matches towards the close of the short season, Windsor scooped up eight trophies from a reduced programme.

David Steel’s under-13 side recorded a treble when they won the First Division title before going on to lift the Stewart Brien Memorial Cup after beating Bonnyrigg Rose following a penalty shootout in front of a big crowd at Olivebank Stadium.

The hat-trick of cups was complete when they won the Peter O’Neil League Cup, again against a very good Bonnyrigg side.

Not to be outdone, the club’s under-13 blue squad, led by Ronnie McCallum, swept all others aside as they marched to win their own Division Two league championship and also collected the Colin Campbell Sports Cup after overcoming Lothian Colts.

In their second season of 11-a-side competitive football, Kevin Johnstone’s under-14s blue team beat Ancrum JFC to win the David Innes Memorial Cup.

Windsor’s under-17 squad, previous winners of the Scottish Cup, took their own league by storm with an unbeaten record to be crowned champions.

Home and away victories over Edinburgh rivals Tynecastle and Hutchison Vale secured the side’s first-ever league trophy.

Wrapping up the trophy haul for the Honest Toun club was the under-19s.

They thumped Broxburn 4-1 at Olivebank Stadium to win the Federation of Hibs Supporters Cup.
