FORMER Women’s Open winner Catriona Matthew is one of seven former champions teeing off at Carnoustie this morning (Thursday).
The North Berwick golfer won the Major at Royal Lytham and St Annes in 2009 and is once again lining up at the Angus course, which last held the tournament in 2011.
The victorious Solheim Cup captain is no stranger to the course and finished tied for fifth at the competition 10 years ago.
Also looking to be among the leaders at Carnoustie are Inbee Park (winner in 2015), Ariya Jutanugarn (2016), In-Kyung Kim (2017), Georgia Hall (2018), Hinako Shibuno (2019) and last year's winner Sophia Popov.
Matthew was among the first to tee off and is currently sitting at level par after the opening two holes.
