FORMER Gullane Primary School pupil Callum Hunter-Hill has been called up to the Scotland squad.

The 24-year-old rugby ace was a late call-up to the squad ahead of the clash with England A on Sunday after a player in the Scots camp tested positive for Covid-19.

A spokesman for Scottish Rugby confirmed the player was now in self-isolation and that it had meant an impact on the squad.

He said: “Subsequent internal contact tracing identified a group of eight potential contacts who are also isolating and as such nine players have been ruled out of Sunday’s ‘A’ international fixture against England ‘A’ at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

“To respect medical confidentiality, Scottish Rugby will not name the individuals affected.”

Hunter-Hill is one of six players called into the squad.

The team is due to be announced tomorrow (Saturday) to allow time for travel.

Saracens second row Hunter-Hill, who has represented Scotland at both under-18 and under-20s levels, previously played for Glasgow Warriors before making the switch along the M8 to Edinburgh.

In 2019, he made the move south of the border to join up with Saracens.

Aberlady’s Rory Darge was named in the original squad for the contests with England, Romania and Georgia.
