PRESTON Athletic will face Stenhousemuir on Boxing Day after reaching the first round of the Scottish Cup.

The Pennypit side become the third East Lothian club to reach the first round of the competition after Haddington Athletic and Tranent Juniors did the same at the weekend.

Preston welcomed Hawick Royal Albert United to East Lothian on Wednesday night in a rearranged second preliminary round contest.

It was the Borders side who opened the scoring two minutes before the half time interval before Preston fought back.

Joe Murray’s equaliser was followed by a goal from Kieran Jack and then Ethan Williams made it 3-1.

Hawick Royal Albert United pulled one back but Jack Lynch’s men held on to secure a trip to Ochilview.

East Lothian’s fourth representative in the competition, Musselburgh Athletic, is due to travel to Wick Academy on Saturday.

The game has twice been postponed and the winners face Cowdenbeath in the first round.
