AN IMPRESSIVE opening first round saw Catriona Matthew sitting tied for fourth place at the AIG Women’s Open.
The prestigious tournament teed off at Royal Troon yesterday (Thursday), with American Amy Olson leading the way after the first round on -4.
Twenty-eight-year-old Olson is back on the course at the moment and has dropped a shot in her opening two holes.
Matthew, who last week missed the cut at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, near Dirleton, carded a score of 71 – level par – on her opening round.
The 2009 winner, who is currently tied for fifth place, takes to the course her second round at 2.11pm.
