MUSSELBURGH Athletic will play Scottish Cup football for the first time after a commanding win over Mid Annandale.

Four goals from club captain Matti King and a hat-trick from Darren Downie gave the East of Scotland Football League side a 7-0 win in the South and East Shield.

Victory for Kevin McDonald’s men means they will join Preston Athletic in representing East Lothian in Scotland’s top cup competition next season.

Musselburgh had qualified for the one-off match after lifting the Alex Jack Cup earlier this season, while Mid Annandale, who sit second in the South of Scotland Football League, had lifted the Alba Cup.
