A LATE goal for ten-man Bo’ness United saw Musselburgh slip to defeat last night (Wednesday) in a seven-goal thriller.

Kevin McDonald’s side were looking to build on a 6-2 thumping of Linlithgow Rose when they travelled to Newtown Park.

It seemed like they were on course to do so when Darren Downie scored early in the second half to put Musselburgh 3-2 up, following a first half double from Nathan Evans.

However, the hosts, who were reduced to ten men with 12 minutes left to play, fought back and levelled things through Fraser Keast.

Then, with two minutes remaining, Stuart Hunter ensured it was Bo’ness who were toasting victory.

There was better news for Tranent Juniors, who emerged victorious at Blackburn United.

Stephen MacDonald’s double gave the Belters the upper hand and strikes from recent signing Kyle Landers and Mark McGovern meant a comfortable 4-0 win.

The two victories have taken Bo’ness and Tranent to the top of the East of Scotland Premier Division.

Calvin Shand’s men, who face Dundonald Bluebell on Saturday, trail their rivals by two points but do have a game in hand.

Elsewhere this weekend, Musselburgh are at Blackburn United, while fellow Premier Division side Dunbar host the league leaders.

Meanwhile, in Conference A, Haddington head north to face Oakley United while Ormiston are at home to Peebles Rovers.

Finally, Preston Athletic, who sit third in Conference B, make the short trip to Midlothian to face Easthouses Lily.
