MUSSELBURGH Athletic just lost out in their bid to win the East of Scotland League Cup, edged out in the final on Sunday by Bo'ness United.
In the end, a 33rd-minute strike from the BUs' Ryan Stevenson proved the only goal of the game at Penicuik Park and was enough to edge Bo'ness over the line, despite a valiant performance from Burgh.
Bo'ness were reduced to 10 men during the second half but still did just enough to hold out and win the cup, which both teams had been hoping to win for the first time after switching from the Junior ranks last summer.
Burgh still have hopes of silverware this season as they are in the quarter-finals of the King Cup, hosting Linlithgow Rose at Olivebank on Saturday.
