YOUNG rugby aces were in action on Saturday as the East Lothian School 7 Series got under way.

Started in 2017, this is the third edition of the event.

All six East Lothian state schools take part, entering five teams in line with Scottish rugby conference system age groups: U13, U14, U15, U16, U18. Berwick Rugby and Lasswade High School are also taking part to make eight teams.

Round one last Saturday was split between venues in Haddington and Musselburgh, with four schools at each (three fixtures).

Round two this Saturday sees two schools swap over to the other pool from each pool for a second round of three fixtures.

Finals day at Meadowmill on Saturday, May 11, then sees teams ranked according to standings: the top four after two rounds play off for the trophy, the bottom four play off for the plate. All teams play twice on finals day.

A girls' event is also taking place at finals day at Meadowmill.
