MUSSELBURGH footballer Kenny Miller has left his role as player/manager of SPFL Premiership side Livingston.

The departure of the 38-year-old former Rangers and Scotland striker was confirmed by the West Lothian outfit on Monday morning.

Miller only took the position at the end of June after succeeding David Hopkin, who led them back to the Premiership via the play-offs.

Miller played in all seven of Livingston’s matches this season, scoring one goal.

A club statement said: “The club felt that the player-manager role wasn’t working and had requested that Kenny reverted to the full-time manager’s role. Kenny, however, feels that he isn’t ready to give up his football career at this time.

"As a result the club and Kenny have amicably agreed to part company.”
