NORTH Berwick golf star Catriona Matthew enjoyed a good day at the Ricoh Women's British Open, finishing round two today (Friday) inside the top 20.
Matthew carded a one-under-par second round that included four birdies and three bogeys as she moved into 14th place on the leaderboard, on three-under overall.
She is six strokes behind the current leaders and has ground to make up if she is to repeat her Women's British Open win of 2009 also at Royal Lytham & St Anne's Golf Club.
Her second round had been in danger of collapsing after bogeys on the 12th and 13th, but she recovered well to make par on the next hole, before a birdie at 15 and another at the last.
The mum-of-two got off to a good start this morning (Friday) with birdies on the fifth and six but made bogey on the eighth.
However she will play the weekend, unlike last week when Matthew missed the cut in the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open at Gullane Golf Club, only a few miles from her North Berwick home.
