EAST Lothian golf star Grant Forrest is "absolutely buzzing" after securing a place at The Open Championship.
Craigielaw ace Forrest booked his place by finishing as runner-up at the final qualifying at The Renaissance Club at Archerfield on Tuesday.
Forrest, currently ninth of the Challenge Tour rankings, coasted through comfortably with rounds of 67 and 69 to finish six-under par.
That score saw him one shot behind Sam Locke, who has also earned his place at The Open.
It will be Forrest's second Open Championship, the first was as a 20-year-old amateur the last time the Claret Jug was contested in East Lothian, at Muirfield five years ago.
But Forrest will miss the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open at Gullane, a Challenge Tour event in Italy will be his preparation for competing with the world's best at Carnoustie.
