YOUNG Tranent swimmer Stefan Krawiec looks to have put his name in the Scottish record books once again.

At Sunday’s Musselburgh Summer Sprints meet at Musselburgh Sports Centre, Krawiec (pictured above), 12, won the 50m butterfly in 28.66s – a 10th of a second faster than the previous best national short-course (25m pool) time for a boy his age.

The new record is still to be officially ratified by Scottish Swimming but it looks certain to be added to the 10 national age-group short-course records he already holds.

Windygoul Primary School pupil Krawiec – who moves to Ross High School after the summer – is a member of Tranent Amateur Swimming Club and East Lothian Swim Team.

At Sunday’s competition, he was named Best Boy after collecting a host of gold medals and also claimed an East District age-group record in the 50m freestyle (26.47 secs).

Musselburgh’s Grace Courtney, 11, also set a new East District age-group record in the 100m Individual Medley (1m12.50s).
