Preston Athletic 3

Leith Athletic 0

Ormiston 1

Tweedmouth Rangers 1

BOTH Preston Athletic and Ormiston picked up valuable points in their respective East of Scotland League clashes on Saturday.

Three-goal Preston saw off Leith Athletic at the Pennypit, while Ormiston were held to a 1-1 draw by Tweedmouth Rangers at the Hibernian Training Centre.

In Prestonpans, the hosts took the lead inside 10 minutes thanks to a stunning Scott Walker strike.

And the Panners doubled their advantage when on 32 minutes Steven Campbell bundled home from Jonny Grotlin’s corner.

Jack Lynch and Paul Riley’s side went in at the break with a two-goal cushion and notched a third with the second half just five minutes old, Jay Cochrane the scorer.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men late on but Preston were comfortable winners in the end.

Meanwhile, Ormiston and the league’s bottom side, who went into Saturday’s match having lost all 19 of their previous East of Scotland League encounters this term, played out a goalless opening 45 minutes.

Both sides did find the net after the break as Tweedmouth recorded their first point of the season.

Preston remain fourth in the table, while Ormiston sit second bottom, still 12 points clear of their weekend opponents.

This Saturday sees an East Lothian derby, as the two sides meet at the Pennypit.
