NORTH Berwick rugby prospect Lewis Carmichael was this week called into Scotland training.
Edinburgh second row Carmichael joined the squad at Oriam on Monday to help them prepare for the Six Nations.
However, the 23-year-old, whose career began with his hometown club, is not in line for an international debut.
His attendance at the session was merely to assist Gregor Townsend's 40-man squad with training.
It is not the first time, though, that Carmichael has been called upon by the national side.
Last summer, he joined the squad in Australia – where he was on loan at the now defunct Western Force in Super Rugby – ahead of the match with the Wallabies.
Carmichael has represented Scotland at age-group level, but awaits a first senior international cap.
