RUGBY star Huw Jones will make his Glasgow Warriors debut against the coach who gave him his Scotland debut tomorrow (Friday) evening.

The Musselburgh ace will start in the number 13 jersey as the Warriors take on Montpellier at Scotstoun in the European Rugby Champions Cup.

And the fixture will see a return to Scotland for former county resident Vern Cotter, who handed Jones his international bow in Japan last summer.

The Cotter family lived in Athelstaneford while Vern was head coach of the national side, and Vern will return to Scotland for the first time since leaving in the summer.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Jones will join Scotland team-mates Ali Price, Finn Russell, Tommy Seymour and Ruaridh Jackson in the Glasgow back-line, which also includes Italy winger Leonardo Sarto.

Dave Rennie, Glasgow's head coach, said: "Huw (Jones) has really impressed everyone since showing up, he showed exactly what he can do for Scotland and here’s hoping that he hits the ground running for us.

“He’s one of a handful of boys making their debuts in this competition.

"It’s a step up but they’ve shown they’re up to the challenge and it’ll be a big day for them."
