MUSSELBURGH gymnastics ace Fraser McLeod returned from his first international competition with a pair of silver medals.

Trampoline and DMT star McLeod travelled to the Loule Cup in Portugal last weekend to compete in his maiden international event, and off the back of a third British title triumph.

And the Musselburgh Grammar School pupil was entered in the individual junior male (elite 15-16) category, where he produced a superb performance to clinch the silver medal.

His mum Julie told Courier Sport it was an "amazing" achievement.

The teenager went on to add a second silver medal, in the team competition.

He will now represent Great Britain once more at the World Age Group Championships in Bulgaria next month.

Julie added: "Fraser has had a great couple of months and hopefully he can do the same again in Bulgaria and make the finals.

"He has been working hard at club and squad training trying to consolidate his passes. The opening ceremony takes place in Sofia on Thursday, November 16, with qualifications for Fraser in the morning and finals later on in the evening.

"He will be travelling with the GB team and we will be travelling as a family to support him.

"Loule was a fantastic experience for him and he was delighted to win an individual silver in the junior men age 15-16 category and then another silver in a team event. "

Meanwhile, there was more county success in Portugal as Caitlin O'Brien secured a silver medal.

The 19-year-old is a member of City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club and trains at Meadowmill, and finished in second place in her age group to claim silver.

Lauren Jeffrey, her club head coach, was also the GB DMT squad coach for the Loule Cup, and will reprise that role for the championships in Bulgaria next month.

Both O'Brien and McLeod are heading to Sofia, and will hope to continue their recent medal success.
