SNOOKER ace Ross Muir is preparing for another busy season on the road, and has extended a sponsorship deal for the coming campaign.

Muir, from Musselburgh, reached the last 16 of a ranking event for the first time in his career at the 2017 Shoot Out, while he also recorded a 147 break in a win over Itaro Santos at the German Masters.

The 21-year-old has now agreed a sponsorship deal with Hutchinson Networks, a computer support company based at Danderhall.

Muir, a former Musselburgh Grammar School pupil, said: “I am feeling very positive for the season ahead, having had a 147 break in a qualifier in Barnsley for the German Masters and a win over Marco Fu last year.

“I now feel better able to handle the pressure of televised matches and will look to keep improving on all aspects of my game.”

He said his ambition was to break into the world’s top 64 this season.

Meanwhile, Paul Hutchison, CEO of Hutchinson Networks, said: “Hutchinson Networks are now in our second year supporting Ross.

“We have been very impressed by his dedication and his positive outlook.”
