A PAIR of East Lothian stars were inducted in the Scottish Indoor Bowling Hall of Fame.

East Lothian IBC’s Alex Marshall and Graham Robertson, the second most capped Scottish Internationalist of all time, were honoured at the Scottish Indoor Bowling Awards in Glasgow at the weekend.

Marshall, known as Tattie, is a six-time World Indoor Singles champion, World Indoor Mixed Pairs and Pairs champion, currently holds two Commonwealth Games titles and is just one medal short of being most recognised Scottish Commonwealth medalist of all time.

Robertson, meanwhile, is a former World Indoor Pairs champion, a record holder of Scottish Masters titles and former national coach.

He was delighted to have been recognised.

The Tranent ace said: “This is a great honour and it feels absolutely terrific to be recognised in this way.

“I’ve enjoyed playing for Scotland, especially winning for Scotland, I’ve met some fantastic characters over the years from all over the world and this honour is an absolutely fantastic one for me, my family and my club.

“I absolutely love the sport. You look at bowls as a past time and a hobby to start with, then you enjoy the sport and you get more and more competitive, you start developing through the ranks and the county, then get selected for trials and selected for your country.

“Then I ended up being involved in the actual business of bowls and now own a bowls company and do business all over the world."

Alex Marshall was unable to attend the awards ceremony.
