Why has East Lothian Council given the go-ahead to a snack van at Belhaven?
One of East Lothian’s wild beauty spots, it risks becoming polluted by empty food and drink containers, littering the shore and sea. I hardly think that writing customers’ initials on takeaway containers will change things. There are already snack facilities at East Links Family Park nearby, plus Dunbar Harbour and Pencraig lay-by.
John Muir, the Dunbar-born conservationist, thought we should “keep our remaining wild areas pristine because of their soul-stirring beauty and our inner need for such areas as an escape”. Obviously, the council does not agree.
