With regards to the Orange Order’s depiction as bigots in a leaked council email, let’s presume I choose to become a member of the Order and have a Catholic friend.
If my friend decides to get married in a Catholic church, membership of the Order would forbid me from attending his wedding.
If he then goes on to have a child, I could not attend the baptism. If, sadly, he passed away, I would not be able to pay my respects at his funeral.
As far as I am aware, if my friend was Buddhist, Sikh, Muslim, Jewish, or whatever else, this would not be an issue, the rule only applies to “non-reformed” churches.
As such, I can only conclude that the Orange Order is a specifically anti-Catholic organisation comprising of, dare I say it, bigots.
