POLICE have appealed for information after delivery driver was left with a head injury in an attempted robbery.

The incident took place in Coatbridge on Sunday, February 4.

A delivery driver driving a blue Vauxhall Vivaro was assaulted by two men on Beechwood Drive at around 10.25am after stopping to make his delivery.

Following the assault, the two men then attempted, but failed, to steal his parcels.

The 33-year-old victim suffered a head injury and was taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment. He was released shortly after.

Police have released descriptions of the two suspects.

The first suspect is white with a slim build and in his twenties. He was wearing grey hooded top and grey trousers.

The second suspect was also in his twenties, white with a stocky build and has short, dark hair. He was wearing dark coloured long-sleeved sweater and light-coloured trousers.

The driver is believed to have made a stop in nearby Greenwood Crescent before the assault. The two suspects may have been hanging around this area prior to the attack.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and encourage anyone who noticed anything suspicious to contact them via 101.

Detective sergeant Susie Cairns said: “This man has been doing his job when he has been subjected to an assault. It’s totally unacceptable and I am appealing to local residents to contact us with any information. On this occasion, the men were unsuccessful in their attempts to steal parcels.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing.”
