STRICT restrictions have been placed around Glasgow Prestwick Airport as Donald Trump prepares to touch down on Friday.

The public is being advised that a designated viewing area (DVA) has been identified and is the only authorised area aircraft enthusiasts and members of the public can view the arrival and departure of Air Force One.

The DVA refers to the hard standing area as highlighted by the red marker on the below map.

East Lothian Courier:
The map shows the designated viewing area (DVA)

There is no viewing possible from the terminal building, as the spectators gallery is currently closed for refurbishment.

There will also be a strong police presence around the entire perimeter of the airport.

Road and parking restrictions will be in place around the airport perimeter from 7.30am on Friday, July 13 for the duration of the entire weekend. No vehicle access or car parking will be permitted along the access road adjacent to the DVA.

Parking will be available within the airport’s car parks at the front of the terminal building and normal parking charges will apply.

Two United States Air Force Boeing C-17 transport planes unloaded equipment at the airport on Wednesday.

A motorcade of Chevrolet and Ford surveillance and satellite communication vehicles were also parked on standby.

Dozens of plainclothes agents were on site at HMS Gannet Royal Naval air station as the security preparations were finalised at Prestwick.

Trump Turnberry, hotel, spa and golf resort, located 23 miles south of Prestwick Airport, will host Mr Trump and his wife Melania during their weekend in Scotland.
