A TEN-year-old girl was taken to hospital after she was struck by a car in Tranent.
The incident happened around 4.15pm on Haddington Road, near Asda.
Police said the girl received a "glancing blow" and was taken to hospital where she received treatment for a minor injury.
The driver of the car, which is thought to be a Vauxhall Meriva, reportedly stopped at the scene and spoke to a pedestrian.
Officers are appealing for the motorist to get in touch as they investigate the incident.
Inspector Jocelyn O’Connor said: “We are not treating this as a hit-and-run because the driver did stop.
“We would simply like the driver to get in touch via 101 to assist us with our inquiries.”
Anyone with information is asked to get in contact by calling 101 quoting incident number 2422 of January 17.
