PUPILS at Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School are expected to have their new headteacher confirmed in the new year.

Acting headteacher Lynsey Blair, who stepped in following the departure of Sally Leighton last month, has been confirmed as East Lothian Council’s ‘preferred candidate’ for the post.

Mrs Blair, who was depute headteacher at Tranent’s Windygoul Primary School, moved across town to Sanderson’s Wynd to fill the post.

Education bosses are expected to confirm her in the role early next term.

The new headteacher helped Windygoul become the first school in Scotland to receive a prestigious General Teaching Council of Scotland Excellence in Professional Learning award earlier this year, for outstanding leadership.

Mrs Blair said: “I will miss the Windygoul community very much; however, I am delighted to be at Sanderson’s Wynd and staying in Tranent, as I have spent my career working in the community.

“I have enjoyed starting to form relationships at Sanderson’s Wynd and look forward to working with the committed staff and parents to ensure the best for the children.”
