POLICE have appealed to residents to report any suspicious vehicles to them after concerns were raised about a car driving slowly through Ormiston yesterday (Thursday) evening.

Images of the white BMW were shared on social media by concerned locals who spotted it driving slowly along streets including Limeylands Crescent and Limeylands Road.

Police Scotland urged people to note down registration plates of any suspicious vehicles and contact them directly.

A spokesperson said: "We've been made aware of community concerns surrounding a suspicious vehicle travelling in the Tranent area yesterday evening.

"Unfortunately, there have been recent incidents of housebreakings and vehicle thefts in the local community and, as part of our efforts to tackle this, we're asking for your help.

If you see a suspicious vehicle, or are concerned about someone's behaviour, please take a note of all the relevant details, such as registration number, vehicle colour/make/model, description of individual or individuals, place and time you saw this and call Police Scotland on 101.

"We'd rather attend a well-intentioned false alarm than have someone become a victim of crime. If you see a crime in progress, always dial 999."

Police also encouraged people to review their own security warning: "Secure your property on an evening; locking all doors and windows and ensuring that valuables and car keys are kept out of sight."
