A PAIR of shorts worn by boxer Josh Taylor will be auctioned off for charity this weekend, with early bids already reaching more than £1,600.

Generous Josh has put the shorts – which he wore as he beat former world champion Miguel Vazquez to retain his WBC Silver title in November – up for auction to support the Action for Alex campaign.

The campaign to raise funds to support Prestonpans youngster Alex Logan, who is battling Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), and his family has already received support from Josh, who wore a t-shirt for the campaign when he made his entrance to the fight.

Now the shorts he wore, which have been emblazoned with the Action for Alex hashtag, have been framed along with images from the fight and will be auctioned online on Sunday.

The auction, which Josh is hosting on his Facebook page, will run officially from 11am to 6pm on Sunday but bids have been coming in ever since the boxer, who is also from Prestonpans, announced his plan.

On Tuesday evening the highest bid stood at £1,650 as fans of the boxer rose to the occasion.

Josh thanks bidders, telling them: “It is for a great cause.”

Susan Logan, Alex’s grandmother, said: “Josh is an amazing young man and has been a huge supporter of Action for Alex, promoting it whenever he can.

“We are very grateful for his support, he is a real pillar of the community.”
