A NORTH Berwick man who sent his wife threatening messages through social media has been ordered to take part in a domestic abuse course.
Christopher Burgess behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by regularly sending messages to the woman.
The messages contained swearing and threats of violence and were sent between October 15 and 16 last year.
Burgess, formerly of Law View, is currently living at an address in Edinburgh and appeared at the city’s sheriff court.
Sheriff Gordon Liddle told the 34-year-old that he was marking the offence by ordering him to take part in the Caledonian Men’s Programme.
The domestic abuse programme is designed to reduce men’s offending against women.
Burgess had previously pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by regularly sending the woman messages via social media in which he swore and uttered threats of violence in October last year.
