SECTIONS of Haddington’s busiest streets are to close to vehicles while roadworks are carried out over seven days.

Resurfacing work on Hardgate, High Street, Market Street and Victoria Terrace starts next Thursday (February 15). It is anticipated the work will run for seven days, not including weekends and depending on the weather.

High Street is likely to be closed 10.30am-4.30pm on February 20.

Councillor Norman Hampshire, council spokesman for the environment, said: “The work will be undertaken in four phases between 9.30am and 4.30pm to minimise disruption to traffic.

“A diversion will be in operation and fully signposted.

“A shuttle bus service will follow the diversion route until connection is made with the normal bus service at A199 Haldane Avenue. There will be no bus stop provision on High Street, the nearest alternative stop will be Court Street.

“Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and businesses will be open as usual.”
