THIEVES made off with an unknown quantity of jewellery after breaking into a house during a daytime robbery.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the owners of the property discovered it had been broken into on Tuesday.

Officers said the robbery took place some time between 7.40am and 8.30pm at the house on West Road, Haddington.

Sergeant Derek MacDonald said: "At this time we are still trying to establish the full extent of the stolen items and their value.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity within West Road at any point throughout Tuesday and would urge the public to contact us immediately if they have information that can assist with this investigation."
