COMMUNITY councillors across East Lothian are into their final 12 months in the role before an election.
The county is home to 20 community councils, stretching from Musselburgh and Inveresk all the way to East Lammermuir.
In October next year, members of the groups will step down for community council elections.
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said: “Community councils are run on a voluntary basis by local people.
“They act as a vital link between East Lothian Council and the local area, and give residents an opportunity to speak out on local issues of concern.
“Meetings are usually held once a month.”
Community councillors must be over the age of 16.
An election is only required if more people stand than there are vacancies.
At the last election, in 2021, elections were needed for the groups representing Pencaitland, Haddington and District, and Garvald and Morham.
