PLANS to transform the site of a village’s former primary school into “around” 60 new homes will be revealed later this month.
Wallyford Primary School closed its doors on the village’s Salters Road in 2019.
Pupils then began attending a new multi-million-pound primary school, next to a new secondary school, Rosehill High School.
Since then, the old version of the primary school has been demolished.
Now, East Lothian Council has put forward a proposal of application notice (PAN) for the “redevelopment of former school site for affordable housing of around 60 new homes”.
The Tranent, Wallyford and Macmerry ward’s four councillors – Fiona Dugdale, Colin McGinn, Kenny McLeod and Lee-Anne Menzies – have been alerted to the plans, along with Councillor Andrew Forrest, who is the local authority’s cabinet spokesperson for housing and property maintenance.
The plans have also been forwarded to Wallyford Community Council.
Two public events will be held between 3.45pm and 8pm at the Wallyford Learning Campus.
The first takes place on October 29, with the second on November 19.
