ACTIVITIES and interests for all generations will be on offer at the annual Communities Day in Musselburgh on Saturday.
There will be the chance to talk to East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership (ELHSCP) about the “planning of older people’s services”.
ELHSCP is one of a number of local groups and organisations which will be represented at the event, which is organised by Musselburgh Area Partnership.
Over the last 12 months, ELHSCP has been engaging with local communities, providers and staff to identify, develop and prioritise suggestions that could support the delivery of older people’s services “for generations to come”. In addition to an online survey, a series of public pop-up events have been scheduled where members of the public are invited to go along and share their comments on the four identified priorities: review palliative and end-of-life care; polypharmacy reviews; intermediate care services; and use of technology.
One of the pop-up sessions is being held at Communities Day, from 11am to 3pm at the Fisherrow Community Centre, on South Street.
Entertainment can also be enjoyed by children at the event, including face painting, balloon modelling, a Bookbug morning and also circus skills from 1pm to 3pm. There will be free bike checks.
A fire engine will be on display, as well as motorcycles from the Bridge Centre in Haddington and boats from Eskmuthe Community Rowing Club and Musselburgh Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets. Representatives from the local yacht club will also be in attendance.
The Clark Concert Party and Clark Community Choir will perform at the event, which will feature Senior Moments, a ukulele band; the Warblers, a singing group for people with lung conditions; and a youth band. The Sustaining Musselburgh community garden at the centre can be viewed.
There will be the chance to view a tapestry about the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh, which was fought between the Scots and English in the Musselburgh area in 1547.
The Dementia Friendly group will be represented and cost-of-living information will be available, as well as the Scrap Store and arts and crafts.
In the centre’s annexe at 11am there will be multisports with the Active Schools service, before cricket with Musselburgh Cricket Club at 11.45am. Musselburgh Youngstars FC will run a football session at 12.30pm and Musselburgh Rugby Club will be in action at 1.15pm.
There will be the chance to find out more about pickleball with the East Lothian Pickleball Association at 2pm.
There will also be the opportunity to watch a chair being upholstered.
