DUNBAR youngsters are swapping New Countess Park for a trip to Newcastle United's home of St James' Park.
Dunbar United FC Colts were fundraising recently ahead of a training session in October with Sunderland and then a visit to the Toon to see the Magpies take on Brighton and Hove Albion.
The young footballers, aged eight and nine, ran the 5k parkrun in Dunbar last Saturday morning, having secured sponsorship from family and friends, and then a bucket collection session at Dunbar’s Asda store raised £400 over four hours.
A spokesperson for the coaching team thanked the community for their generosity and encouragement throughout the day.
They said: “We couldn’t be more delighted with the way that the young players, their families and friends have got on board with the fundraising efforts – it’s so great to see everybody pulling together and getting involved.
“What a team! We’re really proud.”
