CONCERNS have been raised that the creation of two new homes beside a secondary school will generate problems on neighbouring streets.
East Lothian Council will demolish the existing property on Prestonpans’ Schaw Road.
The home was previously used by the janitor for neighbouring Preston Lodge High School until 2001.
Then, it was transferred into general council stock and it was tenanted until September 2021.
Now, two new homes will be built on the site after the local authority’s planning department gave the green light to the latest proposals.
The approval came despite a member of the public getting in contact to highlight their concerns about the proposals.
Their worries centred on road safety issues, including construction vehicles parking on the street, as well as that the parking provision within the site was “not adequate” for the number and size of the houses, which could lead to parking on-street.
Drawings included with the application show a living room, kitchen and dining area, and a toilet on the ground floor.
Upstairs, one home will feature two bedrooms, a home office and a bathroom, while the other property will feature three bedrooms and a bathroom.
